Apology to My Husband found in "from kentucky roots"

My pen was skipping
when I wrote these lines
so if you see any signs
of mistakes
please put it down to that.

My pen was skipping
so that when I wrote words
like me... and you
there was a space between the two.
But it was my pen, you know.

And then some words
were not quite clear
words like love, and us and dear
and in line ten there was a smear.
But it was a faulty pen.

It's hard to write with a faulty pen--
warm words with ink--
and a stubborn pen
makes it difficult to think.
Please remember and excuse
the mistakes
it makes.
